One of the biggest turn-off's I experienced while an adventist was when someone asked a question and the response started with, "Sister White said" instead of, "Jesus said". And the hypervigilant focus on the sabbath as opposed to what Jesus, the Creator of the entire universe, said to be the most important law to keep foremost in our daily lives. That is, of course, to love God, your neighbor and yourself. All law hangs on these. Instead, we were worried about investigative judgements and doors closing and the correct foods to eat. Have you been to an adventist church buffet? The best you can do for them is intercessory prayer to soften their hearts and get rid of that nasty religious spirit that binds many of them in fear, anxiety and depression. Look in a medicine cabinet of the average SDA. Says volumes. I had to repent for bitterness revealed when I responded to Pastor McLain's reference to abortion last week. I had forgotten how betrayed I felt when I found out how liberal the SDA stance was. But why would I expect a false (Christian) religion to have a strong stance against such a horrific thing? Will I see the SDA's in heaven? Yes, as long as they love Christ. They will be held accountable for the ones they rejected (there's a guy at our local SDA church that smokes cigarettes and they won't baptise him. Yet 70% of the male membership views porn regularly. And, of course, the church is dying there...

DeleteI just reviewed the SDA position (http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/guidelines/main-guide1.html)on abortion. I'm totally aagainst abortion just as you are, and I see nothing really problematic with it. To take a much stronger position would seem to me to force the conscience and to become totalitarian.
I love the words of Ellen G. White--all of them, but she herself said the Bible must be brought to the forefront--it is our doctrines.I believe, as she says, that the Holy Spirit is the real Author.
No one should worry about the Inveestigative Judgment as long as every sin is confessed and forsaken. God cannot take us and our sins to heaven, because the universe will still be endangered, and God's promise to make and end off sin (Nahum 1:9)would be broken.
Diet? How much do we care about the body God gave us? have we done the research? It cannot be true that 70% of any SDA congregation views porn. Maybe 1%. Those who do, are sure to hide it. No one who uses tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs should be babtized. All sin should be put away--after all, the candidate should be born again.
Do you truly love Christ? Do you love your brother? No one who hates his brother will be saved. My suggestion is to really seek the LORD instead of worrying about everyone else.

What experience you have in the things of God and the light to which you live that shines in a concentrated blaze around you will be for or against you in the day of reckoning. True, you realize a weakness, but what are you doing personally to overcome and be an example to others. ponder, and be blessed as you search your heart as with a lighted lantern
